Outdoor work under a hard hat, cycling, mountain biking, motorcycling, hiking and running in hot weather. Check the label inside your hard hat, or ask its maker, before you wear any cap under it. Think of it as a hot-weather layer. It has no sun protection rating, and it is not built for winter.
About this style
A double-layered sweat edge, mesh panels and a neck extension under the harness
Our lighter neck shade liner keeps things simple. This one adds a double layer of fabric along the front edge, where the sweatband sits, so it holds more before sweat gets past your brows. The neck extension is shaped to sit between your skin and the parts of the helmet that fasten it, which is where a bare neck gets rubbed on a long day.
The crown is a cooling ice silk fabric with mesh panels for airflow, and the stitching is smooth so it does not itch against your scalp. It stretches to fit most heads without feeling tight or loose, dries quickly and folds small enough to live in a work bag. You can wear it under a hard hat on the job, under a bike or motorcycle helmet on a summer ride, or on its own on a hot hike.
If the Cooling Hard Hat Liner with Neck Extension is close but not quite it, the cooling skull caps shelf has 10 more styles from the MELASA range.
Double-layered edge
Two layers of fabric along the brow and a wide sweatband soak up more sweat before it falls into your eyes.
Neck extension
The back runs down over your neck and puts fabric between your skin and the helmet fittings.
Ice silk with mesh panels
Light fabric with open panels lets air through under the shell and dries quickly.
Smooth stitching
Flat, smooth seams keep the liner from itching through a full shift.
In the heat
A mesh cap soaks up sweat before it reaches your eyes, and that is all we claim for it. Heat illness guidance asks for water, rest and shade, and for time to get used to hot work. A cap that sits under a hard hat should fit the maker's rules for that hard hat.
