Built for long shifts in the cold: construction, freight handling, landscaping, warehousing and refrigerated rooms, plus skiing, snowmobiling and winter riding. It is sold for wear under a hard hat or helmet, so check with your helmet's maker first. The reflective accents help people notice you, but they do not make it a hi-vis garment, so keep your site vest on over it.
About this style
A face cover that drops for your coffee and comes back up for the cold

Break time on a winter job site usually means peeling off a balaclava, drinking fast and pulling it back on over a cold neck. This one has a separate face cover. Pull it down to eat, drink or talk, push it back up when you head out again, and your head and neck stay covered the whole time.
Over the mouth there is a mesh panel, so damp breath leaves instead of soaking the fleece, and less of it reaches your glasses or goggles. The nose bridge is fleece lined. The body is soft antistatic fleece with an extended neck you can tuck into your jacket collar. Reflective accents show up in headlights when you work or commute in the dark. We make it in Black, Green and Gray, thin enough to go under a hard hat or helmet.
The balaclavas shelf holds 2 more styles beside the Thermal Fleece Balaclava, and every one belongs to the MELASA family of hats.
Separate face cover
Pull the face part down for a sandwich or a phone call. Your head, ears and neck stay covered.
Mesh over the mouth
Moist breath goes out through the mesh instead of collecting in the fleece in front of your face.
Long neck
The extended neck tucks into your jacket and closes the gap where cold air gets in at the collar.
Reflective accents
They catch headlights on a dark commute or a night shift outdoors.

In the cold
Cold stress guidance asks you to dress in layers and to cover your head, ears and face when wind and cold bite. A balaclava under a helmet should leave the helmet sitting as its maker intends, so check the label first.
