What goes between your head and the suspension

Six of these seven liners are summer mesh, thin enough to add little under the suspension, with a band at the forehead that catches sweat before it reaches your eyes. Two hang a shade over the back of your neck for a day in the sun on a roof or a road. The Mesh Hard Hat Liner is 5.9 inches deep and weighs 17.7 grams, and the two 3-packs let you change into a dry cap at lunch. The Microfleece Skull Cap is the cold weather choice here, microfleece with a mesh top.

A liner changes what sits inside your helmet, so the helmet has the final say. OSHA's position is that a liner designed to work with your hard hat is not prohibited, and it recommends asking the hard hat's maker which liners it allows. One maker OSHA quotes says nothing should be worn inside at all. Under an electrical (Class B) helmet a winter liner can have no metal parts, which is also why none of our LED hats belong under one.

Does your hard hat maker allow a MELASA liner?

Ask them, and name your hard hat model when you do. OSHA recommends permitting only liners designed to work with the hard hat, so the maker's answer is the one that counts. If your helmet is rated for electrical work, mention that as well.

Which MELASA hard hat liner covers your neck?

The Cooling Hard Hat Liner with Neck Shade, at 16 grams, and the Cooling Hard Hat Liner with Neck Extension. Both hang a mesh flap over the back of your neck and carry a sweatband at the forehead.

Is there a MELASA hard hat liner for winter?

The Microfleece Skull Cap is the cold weather liner in this group, microfleece with a mesh top. For more warmth, our winter skull caps and balaclavas add fleece over the ears and face. The same rule applies to all of them: ask your helmet maker first.
