Hot outdoor work under a hard hat, road and trail riding under a bike helmet, and summer motorcycle rides. We sell it for wear under a hard hat, and the maker of your hard hat decides whether a liner suits that shell. It is a summer layer, not a winter liner, and it carries no sun protection rating.
About this style
Sixteen grams of mesh, a wide sweatband and a flap over the back of your neck
Halfway through a summer shift, the sweat under a hard hat has one place to go, and it is usually your eyes. This liner puts a wide sweatband across your forehead to catch it first, and ice silk mesh over the crown so air keeps moving under the shell. It weighs 16g, thin enough that the helmet still sits where you set it.
What sets it apart from our plain skull caps is the extended neck cover. The fabric runs down past the hairline and over the back of your neck, a larger area than a standard cap covers, so the strip of skin between your collar and the helmet stays under fabric on a long day outside. You can wear it under a hard hat on the job, under a bike helmet on a hot ride, or on its own in the yard.
Compare the Cooling Hard Hat Liner with Neck Shade with the 10 other styles on the cooling skull caps shelf, all part of the MELASA family of hats.
Wide sweatband
The band sits across your forehead and soaks up sweat before it reaches your eyes, which counts most when both of your hands are busy.
Extended neck cover
The back runs lower than our standard skull caps and covers the back of your neck between collar and helmet.
Ice silk mesh at 16g
Thin mesh lets air through and dries quickly, so the cap does not turn into a wet layer under the shell by afternoon.
Holds its place
The fit is made to cut down slipping when you take the helmet off and put it back on through the day.
In the heat
A mesh cap soaks up sweat before it reaches your eyes, and that is all we claim for it. Heat illness guidance asks for water, rest and shade, and for time to get used to hot work. A cap that sits under a hard hat should fit the maker's rules for that hard hat.
