Cover the parts the cold reaches first
Cold work comes down to layers you can move. Under a helmet, a thin fleece liner warms your ears without lifting the helmet off your forehead. When the wind turns on your face, the balaclavas add a cover you pull down for a coffee and back up after, with mesh at the mouth so your breath gets out. Without a helmet, the fleece-lined LED hats bring light to the dark ends of a winter shift, and one of them comes with a neck warmer.
NIOSH keeps its cold weather advice short: loose layers, cover your ears, face, hands and feet, wear a hat, and carry a spare hat, gloves and socks. OSHA's cold stress card counts wet clothing among the risk factors, which is the case for a second cap in the truck. The Winter Helmet Liner and the Thermal Fleece Balaclava both come in a 2-Pack for that reason.
These 13 styles are part of the MELASA range, $7.99 to $21.99 in our last catalog update.

Questions
Cold job site: what people ask
Which MELASA piece covers your face in the wind?
The balaclavas. The Thermal Fleece Balaclava has a face cover you pull up and down and a mesh panel at the mouth, and the 2-in-1 Balaclava Helmet Liner keeps its mask stowed in the cap until you roll it down.
Should you carry a spare MELASA cap on a cold job?
NIOSH suggests carrying a spare hat, gloves and socks, and OSHA counts wet clothing among the risk factors for cold stress. A cap soaked with sweat by noon is the reason. The Winter Helmet Liner and the Thermal Fleece Balaclava both come in a 2-Pack.
Can you wear a MELASA balaclava under your hard hat?
Only if your hard hat maker allows it. OSHA recommends liners designed for the helmet and checking with its maker, and under an electrical (Class B) helmet a winter liner can have no metal parts. Ask before the first cold shift, not on the morning of it.
