Cycling, motorcycling, skiing, running and outdoor jobs in the cold, worn alone or under a helmet. Sold for wear under a hard hat or bike helmet, so check with your helmet's maker before you wear it under one. It has no light, so pair it with a helmet lamp for riding after dark.
About this style
Glasses holes at the temples and a fit from 22.4 to 24.4 inches
Put a regular beanie under a bike helmet and your glasses have nowhere to go. The arms press into your head or sit on top of the knit and slide. This skull cap has a hole on each side, so the arms of your riding glasses pass through and rest on your ears, and the weight comes off the bridge of your nose.
It is thin over the crown and thicker at the ears, where oval fleece ear covers keep the wind out, and the seams lie flat so a helmet does not press them into your scalp. The fleece breathes and wicks sweat on a long climb. The edges are lined with milk silk, which keeps the cap from riding up and the ear covers from curling out. It stretches to fit a head from 22.4 to 24.4 inches around, and it comes in nine colors. We sell it for wear under a bike, motorcycle or ski helmet or a hard hat, so check with your helmet's maker that a liner suits that helmet.
The winter skull caps shelf holds 5 more styles beside the Winter Helmet Liner with Glasses Holes, and every one belongs to the MELASA selection.
Glasses holes on both sides
The arms of your glasses go through the cap, not over it, so they sit firm on your ears under a helmet.
Thin crown, thick ears
Less bulk where the helmet sits, more fleece where the cold wind hits your ears.
Flat seams, milk silk edges
Nothing ridged under the helmet pads, and an edge that holds the cap in place instead of letting it ride up.
22.4 to 24.4 inch fit
Measure round your head above the ears. If you fall in that range, the stretch holds the cap snug without squeezing.
Before it goes under a helmet
OSHA leaves the question of what may go inside a hard hat to the maker of the hard hat, and recommends liners designed for it. Read the label in your hard hat, or ask its maker, before the first shift with any cap underneath. For the cold, layers and a covered head and ears are what the cold stress guidance asks for.
