Children walking to the bus, playing in a dark yard, skiing, skating or out on the dog walk. Sized for most boys and girls. It is not a helmet liner, so it comes off under a bike or ski helmet. Pull the cuff above the eyebrows, so the hat stays out of your child's eyes.

If your child takes a hat off at the end of the driveway because it scratches, start here. We knit this cuffed beanie from a yarn softer than the standard acrylic in our other kids' light hats, so it has a better chance of staying on for the whole walk to the bus. A single button on the light steps through the brightness levels, and your child can work it alone.
The light runs 2 to 8 hours at a time, depending on how bright it is set and how long it stays on. It recharges from a USB port and detaches from the hat, so the knit goes in the wash on its own. The cuff folds up at the brim like a classic watch cap. Use it for bus stops, sledding at dusk, play in a dark backyard after supper, skating and dog walks. We make it in six colors, from black, navy blue and bright blue to khaki, orange and pink.

Before the first walk
Pull the cuff up so the hat sits above the eyebrows: a hat that slides over a child's eyes blocks the view, which is the one thing pediatricians ask hats not to do. Charge the light with the cable it came with and unplug it once it is full, and take the light out before washing.
