    Fits and works with

For skiing, snowboarding, running, winter commuting and outdoor work in the cold. The stretch fabric is cut in one size for most heads and faces. It is sold for wear under a ski helmet, bike helmet or hard hat, so check with your helmet's maker first. The reflective stripes help you be seen, and they are not a hi-vis garment.

    About this style

Two ski balaclavas, and four ways to wear each one

Ski days and cold commutes go through balaclavas fast, and a second one in the bag means you never pull on a damp mask after lunch. This pack gives you two. Each has a separate face cover that pulls down for a drink or a conversation on the lift and goes back up for the run, so your head and neck stay covered in between.

You can wear each one as a full balaclava, a full face mask, a half mask or a neck gaiter, depending on how cold it is and how hard you are working. A mesh panel over the nose and mouth lets damp breath out, so less of it ends up fogging your goggles. The fleece is soft and antistatic, the neck is long enough to tuck into your jacket, and reflective stripes on the back help drivers see you on a dark walk home.

    • Two in the pack

Wear one while the other dries, or keep a spare in the car for whoever forgot theirs.

    • Four ways to wear

Full balaclava, full face mask, half mask or neck gaiter, changed on the chairlift as the day warms up.

    • Mesh over nose and mouth

Damp breath escapes through the mesh instead of rising into your goggles.

    • Reflective stripes on the back

They catch headlights from behind on a winter commute after dark.

    In the cold

Cold stress guidance asks you to dress in layers and to cover your head, ears and face when wind and cold bite. A balaclava under a helmet should leave the helmet sitting as its maker intends, so check the label first.
