Fits and works with
Cold commutes, night runs, ice fishing, camping and outdoor repairs where both of your hands are busy. The knit stretches across most adult head sizes. It is not a liner for a hard hat or any work helmet: a lit cap carries metal and electronics, and a work helmet wants a liner made for it.
About this style
Our light beanie with a second layer of fleece inside

Our standard LED beanie is knit and nothing more. This one adds a layer of soft fleece on the inside and a thicker, snugger knit on the outside, for the nights when the wind finds your ears on the walk home. You keep the light in the brim, with high, medium and low settings, and close to 8 hours of light from one charge.
To charge it, you take the light out of the hat and plug it into a standard USB port, and a car, a laptop or a power bank all do the job. The same step keeps the light out of the way when the hat needs a wash. The knit stretches, so it sits close without pressing, and the extra layer makes this the one to reach for on still nights of ice fishing or a winter of dog walks before work. We make it in 14 colors, from black and gray to a fluorescent yellow and two tie dyes.
If the Fleece-Lined LED Beanie is close but not quite it, the hats with a light shelf has 3 more styles from the MELASA family of hats.
Fleece inside, thick knit outside
Two layers instead of one. The fleece lining sits against your forehead and ears, and the knit over it is close and thick.
High, medium and low
Pick the setting by the job: low for the porch steps, high for an unlit path. One charge gives close to 8 hours of light.
Light out to charge
Detach the light and plug it into a standard USB port. There are no batteries for you to buy or swap.
Before you head out
Charge the light with the cable it came with and unplug it once it is full. A light that swells, smells or gets hot is done: stop using it and recycle it rather than putting it in the trash. Take the light out of the cuff before the hat goes in the wash. This beanie is not a hard hat liner, so wear it on its own, never under a helmet.
